SHEBOYGAN (AP) -- A Sheboygan man who walked away from jail and spent five months on the run has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Thirty-one-year-old Jason R. Halverson was released from the Sheboygan County jail in February to visit the emergency room. He remained at large until being arrested in Florida in July.
His actions led to his probation being revoked on 2007 charges of burglary and drug possession.
The Sheboygan Press says a felony escape charge is still pending.
Halverson was sentenced this week. A message left at his attorney's office Saturday was not immediately returned.
Halverson had been serving time for using his 5-year-old son to help him shoplift. He'd been released from jail because he was allowed to leave for work and other approved activities.
