WAUSAU (WAOW) - This week Birds in Art brings the outdoors inside the classroom.
Chris West is the Artist in Residence. He describes owls, from the spotted to the western screech, to second graders at Trinity Lutheran School in Wausau.
West tells of his love for the outdoors and observing birds in that element.
Allison Borta/Trinity Lutheran 2nd Grader: "I liked all the owls and the bird eating the weird fruit."
Chris West/Artist in Residence: "They have observation skills that we lose eventually and they see things that we don't see, see things in certain ways."
The students receive Birds in Art activity guides so they can do their own drawings and paintings.
West works with Kindergartners through teenagers and his theme depends on the age group.
Mostly he stresses how items in a museum can come to life for the younger generation.
