(WAOW) - UW-Stevens point senior Jared Jenkins has again been honored as the WIAC's special teams athlete of the week for football. Jenkins averaged over 54 yards per punt on a windy day at UW-Whitewater. He punted six times for a total of 328 yards. Four of Jenkins's punts were 59 yards or better with a long of 70 yards that pinned the Warhawk offense deep in their own territory. Jenkins also had game highs in receptions (6) and receiving yards (85).
Sophomore goaltender Nick Graves earns the award for men's ice hockey. Graves led the Pointers to their first two wins of the season with both coming against No. 11-ranked College of St. Scholastica (Minn.). On Oct. 29, Graves faced 26 shots and turned away 25 en route to a 7-1 Pointer win. On Oct. 30, he notched 36 saves in 39 shots. In the third period with the Pointers clinging to a one-goal lead, Graves hung tough through two Saints power-play opportunities and didn't allow another goal to secure the win.
