Galloway unseats incumbent

By Bonnie Shelton

Wausau (WAOW)--Republicans across the nation unseated their incumbent opponents this election. Republican Pam Galloway ousted incumbent Democratic Senator Russ Decker to win the State Senate Seat in the 29th District.

With 98 percent of precincts reporting, Galloway defeated fourth-term Senator Decker by almost six percent.

Galloway, a surgeon, said it was her unique background and approach that won over voters. By promoting her "CPR" Message of controlling taxes, promoting jobs and reducing spending, she stuck a chord with people wanting change in the Senate.

Russ Decker was unavailable for comment after the election, but did release a statement to Newsline 9 regarding the election.

In it he said he was "deeply honored to have served the 29th Senate District" and is grateful for the hard work of his supporters throughout the campaign.

Now that she has been elected, Galloway is excited to make her mark in politics and create jobs for the seven counties she will serve.
