MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Jae Crowder came off the bench for 15 points and 10 rebounds, carrying Marquette past St. John's (Minn.) 86-56 Saturday afternoon in an exhibition game at the Bradley Center.
Crowder connected on 6 of 9 shots from the field and also chipped in four assists and three steals. Chris Otule added 12 points and nine rebounds for Marquette, which finished fifth in the Big East Conference last season.
Sam Blank had 13 points to lead St. John's.
The Johnnies committed 17 turnovers, and Marquette shot 55 percent in the second half, never letting the lead fall to single digits after halftime.
A 3-pointer by St. John's Andy Burns trimmed Marquette's lead to 44-34 five minutes into the half, but then the Golden Eagles pulled away.
St. John's opened the game with three 3-pointers, including two from Blank, but Marquette answered with a 23-5 run.
