WAUSAU(WAOW)--Snow is just around the corner and soon winter enthusiast will be hitting the slopes but not if their equipment no longer fits or works.
Kristi Toner, Wausau Resident says, "Well our family loves to down hill ski and my skis were very old it was time for some new ones and so my son and I came and found some great deals."
For years families like Toner's have depended on the Ski Swap in Wausau, an event put on by the Rib Mountain Ski Club once a year allowing families to switch out old equipment for new, without breaking the bank.
Toner says, "Its' a great place for families to come see and learn about the product, ask questions and trade equipment in for next year. Allowing you to continuing enjoy the sport."
From boots to boards, skis to polls Andrews Schmidt the President of The Rib Mountain Ski Club says the swap has something for everyone. The event is especially beneficial for parents, kids often grow out of equipment which can be costly.
"New skis are very expensive and the staff at Shepherd and Schallers are here and they're able to help you pick out what's best for you so I thought it was a great time to look," said Toner. Schmidt says, "Your often find the same kind of skis two maybe four years old for oh a quarter of that between 25 to 55 bucks that's a pretty good savings to families."
