PRESS RELEASE: Republican Assembly Caucus chooses Suder to serve as Majority Leader

ABBOTSFORD (PRESS RELEASE)-- Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) was elected to be the next Republican Assembly Majority Leader.  His term will start when the next legislative session begins in January 2011.

"I am humbled and honored to have the support of my colleagues as we begin the important job of getting Wisconsin back on the right track," said Suder.  "The voters sent a strong message last week that they are fed up with the ‘business as usual' in Madison and it is our job as the majority party to deliver on our promises to cut wasteful spending, lower taxes for working families, and get Wisconsin back to work."

The Republican Caucus will start the next session with 60 members, 25 of whom will be serving their first term in the Legislature.

"I look forward to working with Speaker-elect Jeff Fitzgerald (R-Horicon), Senate Majority Leader-elect Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), Governor-elect Scott Walker and each and every one of my legislative colleagues as begin the task of bringing fiscal responsibility back to Wisconsin," Suder said.  "The road ahead is going to be difficult, but I know that together we will succeed."

January 3rd will mark the beginning of the 100th session of the State Legislature.  The Assembly will consist of 60 Republicans, 38 Democrats and 1 Independent.
