UPDATE: Sentencing for 2010 Wausau burglary case

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE -  Joseph Unger was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison and five years extended supervision in a burglary case in Wausau that dated to November 2010.

He was found guilty due to a no contest plea on charges of burglary-building or dwelling and battery.  Other charges of false imprisonment and threat to injure were dismissed but read in.

According to online records, Unger is serving time at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility in Boscobel.

WAUSAU (WAOW) - One man is behind bars and police are looking for another after a morning home invasion. Joseph Unger is in custody.

Investigators say he and an unidentified accomplice broke into an apartment and threatened the people living there with a gun.

Police say they responded after getting a call that a man entered an apartment and assaulted two people who live there. "The person had a handgun with them. Officers responded and tried to make contact with the individuals in the building," says Lt. Michael Juedes of the Wausau Police Department.

The commotion shocked neighbors. Andrew Spear says he and his friends didn't know what to.

"I was just nervous right away. I don't know what happened. I didn't know what to do. We weren't going out side, so we just watched the entire time," says Spear.

"I was looking out the front window and I saw a police officer right in front of the house and he was messing around with his weapon, and walked out with his gun drawn, and walked over here and they were all surrounding the house," says Levi Westberg.

Police say the SWAT team responded because the suspects inside were allegedly threatening the people inside with weapons. Officers questioned several people Monday but still don't have all the answers. Meanwhile neighbors say they will watch their surroundings little closer from now on.

Probably not going to walk around at night much more, just stay inside.
