Posted:

MADISON (WAOW) - University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Caitlin Hogan was voted the Player of the Year to headline the 12 individuals selected to the 2010 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Volleyball Team by the league coaches.  In addition, UW-Eau Claire head coach Kim Wudi was chosen the Coach of the Year.

Hogan, a senior outside hitter, secured first team honors for the third consecutive season.  She ranks second in the WIAC with 3.99 points per set, third with .50 service aces per set, fourth with 3.18 kills per set and ninth with a .252 hitting percentage.  Hogan has recorded double-digit kills in 23 of 35 matches, including a season-high 20 against California Lutheran Sept. 3.  She produced five double-doubles (kills-digs).

In UW-Whitewater's career rankings, she places 12th with 153 service aces, 13th with 1086 kills and 14th with 2752 attempts.  Earlier this season, she became the 13th member of the school's 1,000-kill club.  Hogan is the fifth individual in program history to earn the conference's player of the year plaque.

Repeat selections on the first team included UW-Oshkosh's Christina Cahoon and UW-Platteville's Melissa Hillebrand.  Cahoon was recognized for the third consecutive season.

An All-Defensive Team was picked and consisted of repeat selections Cahoon, UW-Platteville's Abby Carey and UW-Whitewater's Alyssa Bauer.  Cahoon and Bauer were recognized for the third straight year.

Wudi earned the coach of the year honor for the second time in her career after earning the prize in 2008.  This season, she has directed the Blugolds to a 24-9 record and a share of the WIAC regular-season championship.  Wudi is in her fifth season at UW-Eau Claire and owns a 101-40 record.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.  It included one member from each school.
