Barbara Kay (Fairchild) Baumer

Barbara Kay (Fairchild) Baumer, age 63, born in Niles, Michigan June 28, 1947, passed away on Monday November 8, 2010. Barbara fought and lived with breast cancer for 13 years. Throughout her fight she always saw the positive side of life and lived everyday to its fullest with courage and strength. Her spirit and smile were bright and her presence always a comfort to those around her. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter, an artist, a visionary, and an inspiration to all who knew her.

In 1998, Barb joined her husband, Pat, in the operations of the 2510 Restaurant and her talents had a great impact there. Her skills as a gardener could be seen around the restaurant and their home and gave Pat the inspiration to help create those places of beauty. Barb's positive attitude and compassion were a powerful influence on the staff and her wonderful artistic abilities can be seen throughout the entire restaurant.

Barbara is survived by her husband Pat Baumer, her daughters Tammy ( nee Gillette) Peters (Jim), Holmen, WI. and Heather ( nee Gillette) Froh (Jon) also of Holmen, grandchildren Alec and Adria Peters, Jude and Felix Froh, and Jackson Baumer, stepchildren Tate Baumer, Wausau and Erica Baumer (Ben) Madison, mother Dorothy Fairchild, Sturgis, MI.; brothers Tom Fairchild, Amherst, Jim Fairchild, Batavia, IL, and Ed Fairchild, Holland, MI. and sister Carole Day, Crofton, MD.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father Thomas Fairchild who passed away on October 14, 2010. She knew that her father passed on so that he would be in heaven to welcome her.

"We will all die someday, that is a given. But let us each die but once, not each day by letting cancer steal the goodness from our days."

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ahuja and the wonderful staffs at Aspirus Cancer Center, and the Oncology department and Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Hospital. Your kindness and compassion helped to give us all strength throughout Barb's journey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Burial and a Celebration of her life will be private.

Memorials may be given in Barb's memory to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Service, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI. 54401.
