WAUSAU (WAOW) -- On Sunday, the Birds in Art exhibit flies away for the year. But before the artwork takes off, we look at some pieces that are being displayed at the Woodson Art Museum that were created by women.
The first Birds in Art installment only featured work from one woman, but now in its 35th year, dozens of women's pieces have been selected for the show.
"Artworks are accepted because they are the very best, not because they've been done by a male or a female," said Museum Director Kathy Foley. "So we've come a long way in 35 years in Birds in Art and we've come a long way historically."
The Birds in Art display stays up until Sunday at 5 PM. After next week, some of the artwork goes on tour and the rest gets sent back to its original owner. And next year, there will be all new pieces on display for the show.
