STEVENS POINT (WAOW) --  Police have been trying to track down this arsonists for a while. In fact they say the last arson was in March. And it was quiet until this past weekend.

But now the blazes have been started and authorities are continuing to investigate.

"Well I was over at my neighbors house, and my roommate Kate was walking over here. And I guess she saw the fire. It was raining so she didn't right away because she had her hood on. And she walked back over to our neighbors house and got us and said 'Our garage is on fire,'" says Brittney King.

The Stevens Point fire department responded. Police also arrived and quickly determined this blaze was the work of an arsonist.

"Evidence left at the scene would indicate that this was not an accidental fire, was not a weather-related fire, or electrical fire. So based on by removing those other causes or potential causes. This fire was set intentionally, with the intent to damage the garage," says Stevens Point police detective Tony Zblewski.

Stevens Point police say since 2008 they have investigated close to two-dozen arson fires all in the same general area and believe they're the work of the same person.

"There are some similarities based on the time of the night, the materials that were used in the fire. So those kinds of similarities, geographically, it's in the same exact geographic area, so we believe, based on those things, they are connected," Zblewski adds.

Now Saturday's fire has given them yet more evidence and they hope new leads in this arson investigation.

It is little comfort to King and her roommate, they remain on edge concerned it could happen again.

"I don't know. I don't have any enemies that I would think would do this, I can't think of anybody." King adds.
