WESTON (WAOW) -- They're in the forests, on the roads and even in your backyard. Deer are everywhere and some people in Weston said they'd like to see them a little less.

Village leaders have fielded complaints and are looking into ways to limited the deer population. One solution -- the Everest Metro Police department joins forces with the DNR to create urban hunting areas.

"We're looking at ways to be able to reduce to meet their complaints," said Everest Metro Police Chief Wally Sparks. "Obviously there's some people who like deer and some people like the deer coming in their backyards and when the population gets high, you're going to get them in gardens and backyards and things like that."

Only bow hunting would be allowed in these new areas and the issue is still in the planning stages. Some local officials say the only way to effectively reduce the deer population is to allow hunting.
