TOWN OF MAINE (WAOW) -- Students in the dairy science program at Northcentral Technical College get a new place to learn. A new building for the program is under construction in the Town of Maine where students will get hands-on experience working with cows on site.

Wisconsin's agriculture secretary toured the grounds and says he hopes the facility will push more students into field that's important to Wisconsin.

"The great part about this is its nurturing that next generation of farmers for the State of Wisconsin. It's really important for our states economy because agriculture is a $59 billion industry and it counts for 1 in 10 jobs," says Randy Romanski, Wisconsin's agriculture secretary.

The project is in collaboration with the Dairyland State Academy. The new building is expected to be complete in a few months.
