WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Students at Newman Catholic High School make a difference for one family. School administrators say a sophomore's brother is paralyzed after an accident.

To help the family, the students paid a couple of dollars each so they could wear jeans to school and held a penny war contest between classes.

"It's really inspiring because it shows how much of a community we are here at Newman and how much we really care about everyone," says Key Club leader Nicole Cornell.

The students raised $993. They say the money will help the family with travel expenses so they can see their loved one getting care in Milwaukee.
