Lillian Rose Marek, 98, of Wausau, died Wednesday November 24, 2010 at Marywood Center, Wausau.
She was born Sept. 29, 1912 in Lankin, ND to John and Julia (Ruzek) Antos. After 8th grade she helped out on the family farm. As a young woman, she moved to the Town of Komensky, Jackson County, WI with her family.
It was in Black River Falls, WI where Lillian met Frank G. Marek. They were married in Decorah, Iowa June 24, 1939. In 1940 the couple moved to Wausau and in 1956 Frank was manager of Riverside Sand & Gravel until his death on Feb. 21, 1972.
Lillian entered Marywood Center in 2003.
Lillian was a stay at home mother, an excellent cook and seamstress. She loved nature, raised chickens, loved gardening and canning. She lived a simple life.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie (Peggy) Marek of Wausau; daughters, Sylvia (Bill Gimm) Marek of Madison, and Karen (Steve) Lynch of Wausau; her two beloved twin grandchildren, Stephanie and Lucas Lynch and other relatives.
In addition to her husband Frank, Lillian was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Antos; and two sisters, Stasia Peach and Sylvia Nemec.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 27, 2010 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Officiating will be Walt Woodthorp, minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
