Holiday travelers take to the skies

'Tis the season to take to the skies. Officials at the Central Wisconsin Airport say the Thanksgiving holiday is one of their busiest times of year.

Britney Below is home for the holidays.

"There's a big family dinner at Grandma's house," Below said. "It'll be nice to see all my family."

The Antigo native along with countless other travelers are flying high this holiday weekend, so far, with no stress.

"Everything went smoothly for me so I was lucky," Below added.

Airport leaders say their 14-a-day flight schedule is packed.

"We expect flights to be about 80% full which is probably roughly 5 or 6 open seats per flight," said CWA Marketing Coordinator Ashleigh Marzynski.

Leaders say CWA is more of a destination airport, meaning more passengers fly in for the holidays. And with the hustle and bustle of last minute travel, they say so far, things are going smoothly.

Even with the new TSA pat down regulations, passengers don't seem to be bothered.

"To me it's not that bad," said Alex Kieliszewski

This holiday traveler is just happy to be heading to the east coast.

"New York and New Jersey," Kieliszewski said. "That's where my sister is going to be."

Officials also want to remind travelers not to bring aboard gifts already wrapped. They may need to be un-wrapped when going through security.
