Strange smell causes Trinity Lutheran to cancel Monday classes

MERRILL (WAOW)--Trinity Lutheran School in Merrill canceled classes Monday due to a strange odor.
School authorities said when people came into the building on Sunday, they noticed the strong smell. A cleaning crew determined the smell was coming from a pipe that had previously rusted and has been replaced.
Crews disinfected the area, and installed high-powered fans to get rid of the smell.
Principal Kathy Yahr decided to be cautious and cancel classes Monday.
"We didn't want anybody coming if there was anything that could potentially make someone sick, so we just decided to err on the side of caution."
Classes will resume Tuesday, but the gym will remain closed.
