MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Jon Leuer scored a career-high 29 points and Jordan Taylor narrowly missed the first triple double in Wisconsin history as the Badgers beat South Dakota 76-61 on Saturday.
Taylor finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.
The Coyotes (3-5) largely played a zone defense, which initially didn't look like a good decision.
The Badgers (6-2) led by as much as 15 points in the first half as the Badgers hit seven of their first 10 3-point tries, including four from Leuer. But Wisconsin struggled from long distance after that and South Dakota was able to claw back to trail 42-37 at half.
From there, Wisconsin held the lead but could never really shake the Coyotes. With less than 8 minutes left in the game, South Dakota trailed 57-51 but could pull no closer.
Charlie Westbrook led South Dakota with 18 points.
