Man hurt in logging accident, found by hunter

LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW) -- A Lincoln County man is hospitalized after a logging accident in the Town of Russell leaves him stranded in the woods for more than 7 hours.

According to authorities, it happened just off Turtle Lake Rd. Saturday morning. Police got a call from a hunter who said he came across the injured man, 50 year old David Doering of Gleason.

According to Doering, he was logging off the road by himself around 8:30am when he cut a tree that struck him and broke his left leg. He was unable to walk and was in extreme pain. He wasn't found by the hunter until 3:45pm.

When first responders arrived, Doering was suffering from a broken leg and hypothermia. He was taken by helicopter to Wausau Aspirus Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
