MADISON, Wis. (PRESS RELEASE) -- Following back-to-back impressive performances in a pair of wins over NC State and South Dakota, Wisconsin senior Jon Leuer was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the Big Ten Conference announced on Monday.
Leuer claims his second-career Big Ten Player of the Week honor after the Orono, Minn., native averaged 25.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 steals in wins over NC State on Wednesday and South Dakota on Saturday.
Leuer posted his fourth-career double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds while adding two assists, two blocks and two steals in helping the Badgers to the Big Ten's most-lopsided victory in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge with 87-48 win over NC State. Against South Dakota on Saturday, Leuer scored a career-high 29 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 76-61 win. He also added nine rebounds, two assists, four blocks and two steals.
On the season, Leuer ranks fourth in the Big Ten averaging 20.0 points per game and sits sixth in the conference with 7.8 rebounds per contest.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for a Wisconsin player this season and the first since Leuer was honored on March 7 of last season.
