Non-profit aims to help war veterans in Central Wisconsin

By Bonnie Shelton

STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--Non-profit Dryhootch provides assistance to war veterans and their families here at home. The group plans to open a location in Stevens Point.

According to organizers, the Central Wisconsin chapter will offer peer mentoring and outreach programs to help veterans and their families.

Co-director Bob Scoville said the mission of Dryhootch is to help veterans who survived the war, survive the peace through a coffee shop and clinic. By offering a place for veterans to communicate and talk about issues, the group hopes to make life a little easier for veterans.

The Central Wisconsin location is not open yet, and organizers held a meeting at the Portage County library December 6th to raise awareness.
