Wanda Y. Dean, 80, born in the Town of Texas, resided in Schofield, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born January 8, 1930 to the late Anton and Idah (Bugh) Olson. On May 24, 1952 she married Darwin Dean in Wausau. He preceded her in death in August, 1962.
Wanda was a volunteer at the VFW where she was a member of the auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Christmas was an important season for Wanda, and she made sure that everyone received the special Christmas stockings that she had knit. Her special interests included knitting and crocheting, camping, polka dancing and attending the Hodag. She also enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to knit and crochet.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (James) Busko of Wausau; her sons, Russell (Dinah) Dean of Rothschild, Paul (Ranie) Dean of Abbotsford and James (Tammy) Dean of Oskhosh; one sister Eidabelle Sann of Wausau; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Darwin, three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Highland United Methodist Church, 707 Third Street, Rothschild. Rev. David Vang and Lay Leader Gail Jackson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Stevens Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland United Methodist Church Wheelchair Ramp Fund.
