ABBOTSFORD (WAOW) -- An Abbotsford man is still putting racist signs in his windows. Now some people in Abbotsford are fighting fire with fire, bringing signs of their own to Mark Prior's street.

Police asked Prior to take the signs down last week and he did. But this week, they're back.

People in the city said his signs keep changing everyday. And like last week, some of them are becoming more offensive.

"I would say we were pretty shocked actually that somebody would be so blatant and open about his bigotry," said Linda Wyeth, who lives nearby.

All of the drama has happened in the building next door to the public library and city hall, where Mark Prior said he wants to open a combination strip club, grocery store and barbecue restaurant.

Prior said he's never seen such a ruckus caused by words on his signs.

"Yeah I did put it up and then I took it down and I put a Latino only sign because I'm just sick of dealing with white people and I'm sick of dealing with this issue right here," said Prior.

Despite a seemingly harsh demeanor, Prior continues to offer free hot chocolate and coffee to people who stop by. Some people in Abbotsford said they are shocked that he would be so blatant and up front about his opinions.

City leaders said, "The City of Abbotsford has worked with Mr. Prior and the owner of the building to take the sign down. At this time, the sign has been removed. The City will continue to monitor this situation and deal with this issue in the event any additional issues arise."

The police chief said as of Friday evening, all of the signs have been taken down except for one that says "for rent."
