WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The blizzard out there didn't stop runners and walkers from turning out for the Jingle Bell run for the Arthritis Foundation. The brave participants started off the 5K race at the Wausau center and looped around downtown.

All the money they raised goes to support several different programs and to build awareness for the Arthritis Foundation of Wisconsin.

"It is a serious disease, it effects a huge portion of our population, the population that it effects is only getting greater and greater. It's not decreasing, and with awareness they will talk about it," says district director Laura Libert.

The Arthritis Foundation put on two other runs today, in Madison and Eau Claire. Between all the races more than 400 people turned out.

The foundation staff says more than 1 million people suffer from Arthritis in Wisconsin alone.
