Karl Schultz loved the freedom of the road. He and his wife, Kathy, traveled all over the United States on their motorcycles. Karl on his Honda Gold Wing, Kathy on her Harley. They especially enjoyed their travels out West. Karl was also an active member of the GWRRA motorcycle club. If Karl wasn't on the road, you could find him outside taking care of his yard, feeding the birds or tending his flowers and vegetables. In his younger years, he had a passion for golf.
At the age of 72, Karl passed away at his home on Thursday, December 9, 2010.
Karl was born November 14, 1938 in Clark county to the late Henry and Myrtle (Lueck) Schultz. Ever since he was a young boy growing up on the farm, Karl always knew he wanted to operate road graders, end loaders, and John Deer tractors. Karl ended up driving heavy equipment for the City of Wausau Public Works Department eventually becoming a supervisor. He worked for city until retiring in 2001 after 36years of service. Karl was a wonderful cook learning as an officer's mess cook while in the U.S. Army at Ft. Riley, KS. On May 21,1988, he married Kathleen Kramer at First English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Wausau, his son, Gordon (Jackie) Schultz of Weston, his daughter, Kim (Donald) Uttech of Wausau, two grandsons, Kyle and Brandon Uttech, and two brothers, Willis (Shirley) Schultz of Racine and Gary (Pat) Schultz of Marinette. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Rogn and Crystal Wagner.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
