Marion L. Freiberg


Marion L. Freiberg, 90, formerly of 1910 Zimmerman St. Wausau, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Wausau Manor.

She was born Feb. 25, 1920 in Wausau to the late Franklin H. and Mary (Bedynek) Morman. She married Norman C. Freiberg on Jan. 18, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa, he preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2002.

Marion was a 1939 graduate of Wausau Senior High. During her working career she was employed at various times for Marathon Electric, Winkelman's Department Store, Johnson Hills Dept. Store and Dr. Counihan. Marion volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother, and as a Red Cross Gray Lady, while remaining active at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and with the Antique Study Club at the YWCA. Her passion for genealogy led to her study of the family history and the background of many of her family antiques. Marion also enjoyed sewing, reading, and watching old movies.

Survivors include her three sons, Charles (Christine) Freiberg, Lyle (Darlene) Freiberg, both of Wausau, Gary (Janice) Freiberg, San Diego; one daughter, Phyllis "Flip" (Steve) Varsos, Madison; 11 grandchildren, Shane (Kristin)Freiberg, Kimberly and Joshua Freiberg, Jeremy Kellner, Tracey Kellner (Mike Cichon), Katherine(Peter) Arrubla, Timothy (Sara) Freiberg, Zachary and Casey Freiberg, Tamara and Sara Varsos ; 7 great grandchildren, Breanna, Brendan, Brayden , Dakota , Daniel, Nicolas and Brooklyn; 2 sisters-in-law, Gertrude Freiberg and Joyce Morman.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Franklin and Donald.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 709 Weston Ave., Wausau. Rev. Paulette Creswell and Rev. Shane M. Freiberg will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau, and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Marions memory to the Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
