MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have hired Joe Ferrone to be the team's national crosschecker.
The 44-year-old Ferrone previously worked with the Dodgers, Tigers and Pirates, most recently as a special assistant to the general manager-major league scout in Pittsburgh.
Jim Rooney was named national pitching crosschecker. Rooney has been with the Brewers eight seasons, previously as roving crosschecker and pitching coordinator.
Milwaukee also elevated Jay Lapp to supervisor in Canada and recently hired scouts Drew Anderson (Plains States), Brendan Hause (Southwest), Shawn Whalen (Northwest), Pedro Hernandez (Dominican Republic), Juan Martinez (Dominican Republic) and Reinaldo Hidalgo (Venezuela).
