STEVENS POINT (PRESS RELEASE) – The Pointers defense held the MSOE Raiders to 20 percent shooting in the game as the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team cruised to a 72-28 victory Sunday afternoon at the Berg Gymnasium.
UW-Stevens Point jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead before MSOE could get on the board and managed to build a 28 lead by halftime, taking a 36-8 lead into the break.
The Pointers improved on their poor first half shooting by connecting on 51.7 percent of their shots in the second.
UW-Stevens Point kept the defensive pressure on as they held MSOE to 20 percent shooting for the game.
Every Pointer who played in the game scored with #Alyssa Olp# leading the way with 10 points. #Christin Coles# collected a team high six rebounds.
Carol Cayo led the Raiders with nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Pointers outscored MSOE 40-12 in the paint and converted 30 turnovers into 29 points.
UW-Stevens Point (8-2) will take a ten day break before they travel to the Northwest to face Pacific Lutheran on December 29th. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
