Beulah (Boots) M. Plischke

Beulah (Boots) M. Plischke, 94, died peacefully at Hospice House of Wausau December 15, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones.

Beulah was born January 19, 1916 in Chippewa Falls, the third daughter of the late Andrew I. Finsnes and Maude L. Finsnes Leidholdt.

Following high school, Boots attended the beauty culture school in Eau Claire. While working as a hairdresser she met the new pharmacist at Branstad's, the corner drug store. Hilbert G. Plischke of Bonduel and Boots were married October 28, 1940. He preceded her in death April 18, 1997. Four children blessed their marriage. Laurie Anne, the youngest child, preceded her in death in 1955 at the tender age of four years and ten months. Her older sisters, Alma R. Yost and June I. Fraley also preceded her.

Boots enjoyed her career in retail, first at the glove counter in Heinemann's Department Store, next with fine leathers at Pahlow's Travel Goods, and finally in women's clothing at Seifert's Fashion where she clerked and then managed the store. Though Boots retired early from her last position, at Stage 7, to care for her widowed mother, she loved assisting her special customers…and they were all special.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter, Thomas (Shelly) of Arlington Heights, IL, Roger (Judith) of Wausau, and Carrie Jean her caregiver, of Wausau; also four grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family is grateful for the gentle excellent care given to Beulah at home by Aspirus Palliative Care, in the hospital on the Hospice Acute Care Unit, and in the Hospice House.

To respect and honor Beulah's wishes a simple service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau. Rev. Dr. James Engle will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday. Her remains will be laid to rest in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Baptist Church, Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
