Leone M. Koss, 84, of 726 Owl Lane, Stevens Point passed away peacefully Sunday Dec. 19, 2010 at the Stevens Point Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 1, 1926 in Stevens Point. Daughter of the late Casimir & Mary (Przybylski) Helminiak. Her marriage to Jerome A. Koss took place on Aug. 23, 1947 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Prior to starting her family Leone worked at Worth Fly Co. and then at UWSP food services and at Portesi Frozen Foods for 37 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter Rosary Society Rose #7, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose family center.
Leone was an usher at St. Peter's Catholic Parish. She did volunteer work for Bannach Elementary School for the last several years. Her interests over the years included traveling, bowling, dancing, baking, and creating many family traditions. She showed her love and dedication to her grandchildren by attending many of their activities including musical events, dance recitals, and various sporting events, always being their #1 fan. For those that knew Leone, they knew that her heartfelt dedication was always to her family, friends, and faith.
A memorial in her name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include six children including four Daughters: Karen (Jim) Olsen of Waupaca, Kathleen (Sonny) Macknick of Stillwater, MN, Mary (Dean) Adamczak of Plover & Kim (Jim) Ford of Stevens Point and two Sons: Thomas (Sharon) Koss of Stevens Point & Bryan (Kim) Koss of Sun Prairie. She is further survived by 13 Grandchildren: Holly Olsen, Jamie (Mark) Welnick, Brian Olsen, Kalsea & Karrah Koss, Ross (Caitlin Meighan) Adamczak, Nate Adamczak, Brad & Chad Koss, J.T., Conner, Lexi & Kalyn Ford. 2 Great Grandchildren: Austin & Avaya Lee Adamczak.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Sept. 15, 1987, her parents and one Brother, Louis Helminiak
Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Dennis Stanchik Officiating. Private burial at a later date in King veteran's cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 9:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday morning in the St. Faustina room at St. Peter Church.
