WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) -- Wisconsin Rapids leaders tell a local business the deal is off.

The city wants to renegotiate the deal with Energy Composites to build a facility in the Wisconsin Rapids East Commerce Center.

The company wanted to build a wind turbine blade plant, but after a year and a half no ground has been broken, and the city wants to know what's going on.

"There was the expectation of when the plant would be built. When there would be a ground breaking. Its kind of consistently been pushed back for various reasons," city council president Jean Young said.

Leaders say the facility would have employed more than 600 people.

Newsline 9 tried to contact Energy Composites, they haven't returned any calls.
