LAS VEGAS, NV (Press Release) – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team outscored Colorado College 46-16 in the paint and all 15 players for the Pointers who played scored as the Pointers cruised to a 92-50 victory over the Tigers at the D3hoops.com Classic at the South Point Arena.
The Pointers opened the game on a 10-0 run and continued to build on their double digit lead, going in front by as many as 24 before taking a 22 point lead into halftime, 45-23.
In the second half the fourth-ranked Pointers continued to dominate, pushing their lead to as high as 45 as they cruised to the 42 point victory.
The Pointers shot a blistering 53 percent from the floor in the game's opening half but connected on only five of 13 three-point attempts in the victory.
Jerrel Harris led the way again for the Pointers, finishing with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting including 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Tyler Tillema added 10 points off the bench while DeVon Jackson and Scott Hoelzel each collected five rebounds.
Ian Rewoldt and Brady Ohlsen each tallied 13 points for the Tigers.
UW-Stevens Point continues their stretch of four games in four days when they take on Simpson College of Iowa in the opening round of the Cactus Jam Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. That game time has been moved up an hour and a half to a 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time start, 4:30 p.m. local time.
