Henry G. Fisher, of Stevens Point, died Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010 at the Stevens Point Care Center. Age 96 Henry was born March 11, 1914 in Fernwood, Ohio to the late Henry Sr. and Hilda (Mantyla) Fisher, immigrants from Germany and Finland. After living in Armstrong Creek and the Town of Linwood, his family settled in the Town of Hull in 1924. Henry graduated from St. Casimir School in 1928. In his early years, he loved to fish and hunt and trapped in the "River Bottom". He enjoyed managing the Sunset Baseball Club and played right field. As a young man he worked for Liberty Bell and Lullabye furniture. On September 28 1940, Henry married Margaret Sharkowski at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Margaret died May 31, 2005. As a welder during World War II, he worked building and repairing retriever and supply boats for the Army and Air Corps at the Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co for number of years. Later, he worked as a grocer and butcher at Kalp's Grocery and other local grocery stores. In his retirement, he enjoyed being with his family and gardening. He pruned his beloved apple trees until his was 90 years old.

Survivors include his four children, Carol (Robert) Lesczynski of Stevens Point, Kenneth (Pauline) Fisher of Plover, Roy Fisher of Stevens Point and David (Linda) Fisher of Rohnert Park,CA. His ten grandchildren, Theo (Oscar Newman) Lesczynski, Daniel Lesczynski, Scott (Amber) Fisher, Nicolas Fisher, Laura Fisher, Sara Fisher, Meredith Fisher, Alexandra Fisher, Ronald Piastrelli and Tim Piastrelli. Four great grandchildren, Aurora. Alex, Jax and Eva. A sister in law, Lauretta (Thomas) Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, an infant daughter Marian Fisher, two sisters Mary Gogat and Helen Kieliszewski and two brothers William and Thomas Fisher.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Stevens Point Care Center for all the loving care and support they gave Henry.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Rev. Kevin C. Louis officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM Tuesday morning at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peters Church until the time for mass.
