Henry E. Winkler, 88, formerly of the Town of Hull died peacefully Saturday Jan. 1, 2011 at the Portage County Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past 5 ½ years. He was also under the Care of Wausau Aspirus Hospice.
He was born May 18, 1922 in Stevens Point. Son of the late Stanley & Sally (Gollon) Winkler. His marriage to Emily E. Kuzynski took place on Aug. 30, 1941 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Henry farmed in the Town of Hull for Many Years and was also employed at the Whiting Plover Paper Mill for 28 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the St. Peter Holy Name Society.
Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and going to casinos. He was very particular when it came to gardening and lawn work. He was a very religious man praying many rosaries daily. The family would like to thank the staff at the Portage County Health Care Center for all their wonderful care of Henry. In Lieu of flowers a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife Emily, One daughter: Delores "Dolly" (Derek) Domlewski of Plover, two grandchildren: Julie Taylor & Scott (Samantha) Burroughs. Three great grandchildren: Brandon, Ashley & Dakota. One Brother: Frank Winkler. Preceded in death by two brothers: Raymond & Edwin & two Sisters Ann Fraiman & Cecilia King.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev. Kevin C. Louis and Rev. Dennis Stanchik Officiating. Burial in the St. Casimir Parish cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski funeral Home in Stevens Point, and from 9:30 AM until the time of services Thursday morning in the St. Faustina room at St. Peter Church.
