Tolzien Represents UW at East-West Shrine Game


MADISON (Press Release) – His collegiate career complete, Wisconsin quarterback Scott Tolzien is looking to elevate his stock for the next level as he has accepted an invitation to play in the 86th East-West Shrine Game, it was announced on Wednesday.

Taking place at 3 p.m. (CT) on Jan. 22 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., the East-West Shrine Game is the longest-running all-star college football game.

Tolzien's appearance puts a Wisconsin player in the game for the eighth year in a row and the 12th time in the past 13 seasons. In that time, 18 different Badgers have competed in the game. Most recently, O'Brien Schofield participated in the 2009 edition.

Having completed his career in the 2011 Rose Bowl, Tolzien finds his name throughout the Wisconsin record book.

He holds the school records for career completion percentage at .681 (min. 300 att.) and career QB efficiency rating of 153.2 (min. 300 att. He is fourth at UW with 5,271 career passing yards and 410 career completions, sixth with 32 career passing touchdowns and seventh with 5,262 yards of total offense in career and 602 career pass attempts.

The 2010 season saw Tolzien set new marks for single-season completion percentage at .729 (min. 100 attempts) and passing efficiency at 165.8 (min. 200 attempts) at Wisconsin. In addition, his 2,459 passing yards ranks fourth-best all-time for one season at UW and second-most by a senior QB, while 194 completions also rank fourth-best. Tolzien also ranks fifth all-time at UW with 2,429 yards of total offense in one season.

The 86th East-West Shrine Game airs live on the NFL Network at 3 p.m. (CT) on Jan. 22.
