MERRILL (WAOW) -- Parents and administrators will come together Thursday night in Merrill to talk about the future of students in their district.
About two weeks ago, the school board discussed plans to make cuts in order to keep the district within its budget for the 2011-2012 school year. On Thursday night, parents will have the opportunity to ask the board questions directly about their plans for the future.
"Let's not just look at the bottom line and move our students to save money but what's in the best interest of their academic progress," said Quality MAPS spokesperson, Tammie Mrachek.
The superintendent and board president will present the "Financial State of the District."
Representatives from Quality MAPS, a group of concerned parents, will bring up issues they have found with the board's plan, which includes shutting down two of the elementary schools and moving 5th graders to the middle school.
