WILD ROSE (WAOW) -- When you think of shop class - you think of making bird feeders and other small items.

Not at Wild Rose High School.

Students are turning a Geo Metro into an electric car.

The class is working with a six thousand dollar budget, including the cost of the car.

Teachers see this as an opportunity to make kids aware of green jobs.

"It's really exciting. It's an opportunity for our students to get into the 21st Century, and have the opportunity to work on skills. It's neat to be on the cutting edge," Wild Rose Principal Charles Shuessler said.

Students plan to put the electric motor in the car next month. After the transformation is finished, the car will be used by the district to run errands.
