Joyce L. Schultz, age 83, formerly of Bowler, died on Friday, January 5, 2011 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. She was born on March 30, 1927 in Eland, the daughter of the late Herbert and Grace (VanAlstine Stasko) Whiting. On June 3, 1948, Joyce was united in marriage to Verlyn Schultz in Dallas, TX. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2002.
Joyce was a postal clerk in Bowler for many years until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tigerton and enjoyed reading, gardening and watching the birds. Joyce enjoyed visiting with family and friends but especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Randal Schultz, Griffin, GA, Rhonda (Dr. Joseph) Trader, Manitowoc, Verlyn (Joan) Schultz, Plover and Janiese (Dale) Rickert, Milwaukee; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; 10 siblings, Stanley Whiting, Antigo, Kathryn Jensen, Wausau, Louella Price, Spencer, Lyle (Fern) Whiting, Merrill, Phyllis (Bud) Zappa, Laramie, WY, Raymond (Sherry) Whiting, Rockford, IL, Helen Miller, Rachael Blecher, Sharon Stasko, all of St. Petersburg, FL and John (Diane) Stasko, Stanley, WI. In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Whiting.
The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tigerton. The Rev. Matthew Uttenreither and Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, town of Almon, Shawano County. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9AM until the time of service at the church.
