WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The murder trial of 23 year old Raul Ponce-Rocha continued Monday morning with testimony from an FBI DNA Examiner.
Leslie McCurdy explained to the jury how he examined Mitochondria DNA from the hair found on Raul Ponce-Rocha's sweatshirt, the one he was seen wearing the day of the murder. McCurdy compared it to DNA from Breanna Schneller and said there were similarities, therefore she could not be excluded as the source.
McCurdy went on to explain how Mitochondria DNA doesn't provide 100% certainty, but he is reasonably certain the hair on the sweatshirt is consistent with hair from Breanna Schneller.
The prosecution is expected to next call on witnesses from the state crime lab in Wisconsin.
