WISCONSIN RAPIDS(WAOW)-- Some Element Mobile customers in Wisconsin Rapids are upset. They say they've been without cell phone coverage for several days. The calls and questions about what's going on with the cell phone provider keep coming in here at Newsline 9. An Element representative says they are experiencing a few hiccups. Customers say they haven't had service for days and that's a little more than a hiccup.
When Verizon recently bought out Alltell Sara Kommer was one of those 80, 000 customers switched to Element. Kommer spent hours at the store trying to get answers. She says she called Element Mobile seven times in three days only to get a voice recording. Many customers have reported on Facebook about being stranded without a working phone.
"They were in Chicago and had no idea this transition was happening, and they were left with a phone dead in the water essentially," Kommer said.
But Kommer and her friends aren't the only ones frustrated. Some customers are expressing their feelings on the internet. A lot of comments on Facebook state dissatisfaction from customers. We talked with the C.O.O of Element for his thoughts on the situation.
"We have a lot of traffic coming into our store and people want to know who we are and what we have to offer for service and will our service change. They can have a new service from us or their old one," Jerry Wilke said.
Wilke says over the weekend an over load of calls broke their 800 number. He says it's fixed now and any customers experiencing issues due to the transition are eligible for compensation. Wilke says those customers can fill out a form to receive credit.
