RHINELANDER(WAOW)--A Northwoods community is looking forward to some changes in it's future after receiving a $250,000 donation.

Rhinelander native Jim Miazga and his wife Jean donated $250,000 to the Hodag Facilities Foundation Capital Campaign. The Foundation is designed to improve and enhance facilities with private money beyond referendums.

Rhinelander High School kicked off with a pep rally to celebrate and honor the Miazgas. You can find Jim Miazga's picture hanging on Rhinelander High School's hall of fame wall for playing football and basketball. That's why Miazga and his wife Jean Miazga say it's easy to give back to a community and kids they love.

Jean Miazga says, "Jim and I weren't able to have children and we really wanted to have children. So this is a way of staying involved with the kids and watching that happen. We wanted to see the money go to something that we could actually witness rather than wait until we're long gone."

Students hugged and thanked the Miazga's for the major donation. The money will help update the auditorium, add a new media center and remodel the gym which will now be called the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The Miazga's ran a business in Rhinelander which they recently sold.
