Clifford C. VanderWall, 96, of 2100 Townline Rd. Wausau died Wednesday Jan. 19, 2011 at Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born Nov. 19, 1914 in Green Bay to the late Charles and Ann (Hamernik) VanderWall. He attended St. Patrick Parochial School and West High School in Green Bay, and the UW-Madison where he graduated with honors with BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Thelma Crone on Sept. 22, 1943 at St. Francis Cathedral in Green Bay.
Clifford served his country in WWII from 1940 – 1946 as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He was a registered professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin since 1950. In his career he worked at various engineering and management positions in Washington DC, Marinette, and Wausau. He was actively involved in religious and community affairs in both Marinette and Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma, Wausau; son, Peter VanderWall, Estes Park, Colo., daughter, Anne VanderWall, Bethesda, MD; granddaughter, Sarah Meyanathan, Washington, DC; grandson, Matthew Meyanathan, Toronto, Canada.
Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Fern VanderWall and Ellen Claire Collom.
Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday Jan. 24, 2011 at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 2nd St. Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Burial will be in Allouez Cemetery, Green Bay. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church.
Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau is assisting the family with arrangements.
