New Holstein searching for interim superintendent

NEW HOLSTEIN (AP) -- School board members in New Holstein will meet in the next few days to select an interim replacement for the current superintendent, who has been arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of soliciting sex from a minor.

School Board President Oscar Beilke tells The Sheboygan Press that Superintendent Chris Nelson has been placed on administrative leave. Beilke says Nelson's replacement will probably come from inside the district.

Police say Nelson was arrested Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop in Milwaukee. A jail spokeswoman says he was being held in the county jail on Sunday on suspicion of using a computer to facilitate a sex crime.

Nelson has not been formally charged. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

New Holstein is about 22 miles northwest of Sheboygan.
