Man arrested after instigating fights at ice fishing contest

LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW)--According to a sheriff's department report, a Bayfield County man, 26, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated second offense, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and a probation hold after starting fights at an ice fishing contest.

Witnesses at Lake Alexander said the man was "intoxicated and starting trouble throughout the afternoon," according to the report.  The man told people he was a Sheriff's Deputy from Sauk County. He also told them he had a gun.

Merrill police attempted to arrest the man but according to the report, he didn't comply. They used a taser on him and took him to the Lincoln County Jail.

According to the report, the man is still behind bars awaiting his bond hearing.
