Lawrence “Larry” W. Omernik


Lawrence "Larry" W. Omernik, of Plover, died early Sunday morning January 23, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Age 54 Larry was born March 10, 1956 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Myron and Cecelia (Lebryk) Omernik Sr.

He attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) in 1974. His marriage to Bonnie Lasky took place on June 25, 1977 at St. Bronislava Catholic church in Plover. After their marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point later moving to Plover. His wife Bonnie survives. Larry owned and operated Point Diesel Truck repair for the past 22 years. Larry enjoyed restoring cars, golfing and his dog Bo. His most precious time was spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Stevens Point Moose Lodge # 1572 and the Stevens Point Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie, his four children Christopher (Christina) Omernik of Plover, Tim Omernik of Plover, Jayme (Chris) Adams of Plover and Ryan (fiancé Michelle Sandstrom) Omernik of Stevens Point. His five grandchildren Casson, Ben, Madison, Cody and Landon. Four Brothers Myron (Maryann) Omernik of Polonia, Gary (Ann) Omernik of Custer, Ronald Omernik of Custer and Bob (Patsy) Omernik of Plover. Five sisters Linda (Richard) Konkol, Nancy (Paul) Domaszek, Donna (Dennis) Greco, Joanne Omernik and Denise Omernik all of Custer.

The family would like to personally thank Dr. Rezazadeh and Dr. Barton of Aspirus Cancer Center in Wausau for their wonderful care of our husband, father and grandfather. We would also like to thank the personel at the ER of St. Michaels Hospital for their compassion and care shown to us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a one brother in law.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. James Trempe officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's of Torun Catholic Church Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Plover, and from 9:30 AM Wednesday at St. Bronislava Church until the time for mass. There will be an Elks ritual at 6:30 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home, followed by a Moose Ritual at 6:45 PM and the Parish Rosary at 7:00 PM. Online condolences may be sent by visiting
