UPDATE: 1 man dead in Mole Lake shooting


MOLE LAKE (AP) -- A medical examiner says one man is dead in a shooting in Forest County.

The sheriff's department says shots were fired at an apartment building in Mole Lake about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Sheriff John Dennee said in a statement that deputies found a 19-year-old man in the hallway and a 53-year-old man in an apartment. Both had gunshot wounds. The sheriff says an argument apparently took place prior to the shooting.

Oneida County Medical Examiner Traci England, who also serves Forest County, says the older man was pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. England says the man apparently died of a gunshot wound to the chest. An autopsy is expected to be done in Fond du Lac County on Tuesday.

FOREST COUNTY (WAOW)--According to a press release, two are injured after a shooting in Forest County.

Details are still scarce but according to the release, officers responded to the Mole Lake Apartment Building after reports of gun shots around 7:30 a.m. Monday. When they arrived they found one man, 19, in the hallway and another man, 53, inside the apartment, both with gunshot wounds.

An argument may have taken place prior to the shooting according to the release.

The Forest County Sheriff's Department is still investigating.
