Roy Hoeppner, 78, Wausau, died peacefully with his family at his side at home on Monday, January 24th, following a long illness.
Roy was born on June 13th, 1932 in Wausau, WI, son of the late Henry and Florence Hoeppner. He was married on June 29th, 1951, to Nancy Frank of Wausau.
He was employed at SNE Corporation for 38 years, serving in many management positions. After retirement from SNE he moved to Fond du Lac, WI to manage The Combination Door Company for the next six years.
Roy spent many hours doing volunteer work. He worked with DC Everest students in the Junior Achievement Program. He also worked with the Salvation Army with their Disaster Team and spent countless hours ringing bells at Christmas time.
In past years, he served on various boards at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. He was a past member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He worked as a volunteer preparing income taxes through AARP.
His leisure time was spent at the family cottage on Crescent Lake in Rhinelander, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hoeppner, two daughters, Jayne Wood and Merry (Micheal) Malone all of Wausau, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Joshua) Graf, Joshua (Abbie) Wood, and Patrick Malone. He is also survived by one great grandson, Jackson Graf. He was preceded in death by one son- in-law, Jeffrey Wood.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, WI. Rev. Joel Brandt will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
