UPDATE: Dallas-Fort Worth Airport reopens

DALLAS, Texas (WKOW) -- The Dallas-Fort Worth airport (DFW) reopened after it was closed for about an hour and a half due to ice.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that DFW closed Tuesday at 7:00 a.m., hindering both Green Bay and Pittsburgh fans still traveling by air to nearby Arlington, Texas for the Super Bowl.

The three other airports serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area remained opened throughout the morning: Dallas Love Field (DAL), Fort Worth Meachem (FTW), and Fort Worth Alliance (AFW).

DFW Communications Manager David Magana told 27 News Monday that the Dallas-Fort Worth airport has never had to close before due to winter weather.  "We've seen it before, and we've got plows," Magana said.  "What usually works in our favor is that the pavement temperature usually stays pretty warm, so it doesn't affect air traffic that much."
