Walker says Wisconsin faces economic crisis

MADISON (AP) -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will say in his first State of the State speech that rhetoric will meet reality in proposals he unveils in the coming weeks to balance Wisconsin's budget.

Excerpts of Walker's speech were provided by his office in advance of the Tuesday evening speech.

In one of the excerpts Walker says Wisconsin faces an economic crisis that demands immediate attention.

Walker says the solutions must address both job creation and the budget problems while laying the foundation for future economic growth.

He says past reliance on federal money and fund raids has only delayed and worsened the current problem.

Critics have charged Walker with pushing tax cuts that will do little to create jobs and only worsen the state's budget problem.
